Revolut is a fintech and digital-only bank that allows users to make domestic and international fund transfers to both Revolut and non-Revolut users. It also allows users to make online and in-store payments, as well as cash withdrawals at ATMs using Visa- and Mastercard-branded Revolut cards. In December 2017, Revolut introduced a new feature allowing users to buy and hold Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Ripple cryptocurrencies within the app. Users can also transfer these digital currencies to other Revolut users. Revolut allows users to top up their Revolut account in 28 currencies via bank transfers, in 18 currencies using payment cards and Google Pay, and in 14 currencies using Apple Pay. Launched in 2015 in the UK, Revolut is now available in 35 countries. In December 2018, Revolut received a European banking license, and in May 2020, the company launched a licensed bank in Lithuania. Most recently, in September 2020, it launched its services in Japan, following its US expansion in March 2020. These launches were backed by well-known investors including Index Ventures, Balderton Capital, DST Global, and Ribbit Capital.
