Worldwide Major Mobile Phone Vendor Performance, 2Q 2018
- Report Description Table of Contents
Shipment volume of the global mobile phone industry grew sequentially in the first quarter of 2018, reaching 463.6 million units. Of mobile phones shipped, 358 million units were smartphones, declining sequentially and year-on-year. The decline is attributed mainly to the annual decline in three major markets: China, the United States, and Europe. The increase in India and Southeast Asia however could not make up the decline in mature markets. Amidst the saturated smartphone market, it is anticipated that shipment volume of the global mobile phone industry will increase sequentially and year-on-year in the second quarter of 2018 to over 470 million units as major vendors' overseas expansion plan has started to bear fruits, especially Xiaomi in India.
