The Ministry of Spatial Development, Infrastructure, and Integration of Aruba (MoSDII) is undertaking the construction of a road project in Oranjestad, Aruba.

The project involves the expansion of the capacity of the existing main road from the Reina Beatrix Airport to the roundabout of Pos Chiquito from two-lane to four-lane over a distance of approximately 8km.

It includes the upgrade of the existing roads over a length of approximately 23 km, construction of a 13km cycle path, bridges and related facilities.

On September 9, 2011, MoSDII issued tenders for the project's development.

On April 15, 2013, MoSDII announced CIC N.V. as the as the preferred bidder to develop the project on a Design, Build, Finance and Maintain (DBFM) basis.

On July 15, 2015, CIC N.V. (owned by Grupo Odinsa SA) signed an agreement with MoSDII to develop the project.

Integra Design Group, Architects & Engineers has been appointed as the civil engineer and Mayer Brown, Allen & Overy as the legal advisers.

On July 24, 2015, Aruba Investment Bank (AIB), Deutsche Bank and Scotia bank approved funding for project implementation.

Construction activities are underway and expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

Scope
