Summary
Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) is planning to undertake the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K), Pakistan.

The project involves the construction of a 590MW hydroelectric power plant.

It will include the construction of a powerhouse, a substation and access roads, the installation of turbines, generators, and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.

In June 2013, PPIB invited bids for the development of the project. In September 2013, PPIB received three bids from a consortium of China International Water and Electric Corporation (CWE) Trans Tech Group; Sinohydro Group Ltd, China; and Nishat Group Associates, Pakistan.

In March 2014, a consortium of CWE, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges, and Trans Tech Group was appointed as BOOT contractor for the project.

On December 23, 2014, PPIB issued Letter of Interest (LoI) to a consortium of CWE and Trans Tech Group. The consortium would now apply for the tariff in National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra). After getting the tariff, consortium has to achieve complete financial closure, which is the finalization of finance.

Feasibility study activities are underway. Construction activities are expected to complete by the fourth quarter of 2023.
