Jadranski Naftovod DD (Janaf) is undertaking the construction of a LNG terminal on Krk Island, Croatia.

The project involves the construction of an LNG terminal with a capacity of 6 billion m3 (bcm) of gas. It includes the construction of two 180,000 m3 storage tanks, metering stations, storage facilities and related infrastructure, the installation of control systems, compressor units, equipment, and the laying of pipelines. It will be implemented in phases.

First phase involves the installation of receipt of LNG Regasification Vessel (LNGRV), with the corresponding annual send-out capacity of 1-2 bcm/year; Second phase involves the construction of Floating Storage Unit and onshore regasification segment of the future LNG terminal, with corresponding sendout capacity of 2-3 bcm/year and third phase involves the construction of onshore LNG terminal, with corresponding send-out capacity of 4-6 bcm/year.

LNG Hrvatska (LNG Croatia LLC), a joint venture between the power utility HEP and the gas system operator Plinacro, has been appointed as project manager.

On July 21, 2015, LNG Croatia invited investors to express interest in building the LNG terminal.

On November 30, 2015, Janaf closed the tenders for the industrial investors and received seven bids including four industrial companies and three finance companies.

Janaf closed the tenders for the financial investors on December 31, 2015.

In 2016, the EU Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) funded the project.

In January 2016, Duro Dakovic Holding dd was awarded a US$24 million contract to build two storage tanks at the terminal.

Geokon Company has been appointed as underwater soil surveyor.

European Commission has approved US$122.6million to the project.

Survey activities are underway.
