Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is undertaking the construction of a gas depletion compression development facility in Oman.

The project involves the construction of a gas depletion compression facility. It is planned to be implemented in two phases.

It includes the construction of a substation and control building, harmonic filter substation building, installation of two inlet separators, wet condensate drum and condensate pumps, 132/11kV unit power and distribution transformers, instrument air system, emergency two diesel generators and diesel tanks, safety systems, modification and extension of Kauther 132kV Substation and switchyard.

On July 1, 2009, Petrofac E&C Oman LLC has been appointed as design consultant and main contractor for the first phase.

Al Hassan Group of Companies is undertaking the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works for the first phase.

On November 7, 2012, construction works on first phase completed.

PDO's in-house division is undertaking the design works, Sohool Al Habiba Trd LLC was appointed as foundation contractor and GE Oil & Gas as supply, testing, installation and commissioning contractor for second phase.

In August 2015, PDO issued tenders for the second phase main contract.

Three companies amongst others had submitted their technical bids in the third quarter of 2015 and commercial bids were submitted on February 17, 2016.

On April 7, 2016, Larsen & Turbo Ltd was appointed as main contractor for the second phase.

Construction activities on the second phase are underway and the project is expected to be completed by Q2 2018.

Scope
The Kauther Depletion Compression development project involves the construction of a gas depletion compression facility in Oman.

The US$600 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of substation and control building

2. Construction of harmonic filter substation building

3. Installation of two inlet separators

4. Installation of wet condensate drum and condensate pumps

5. Installation of 132/11kV unit power and distribution transformers
