The project will be developed in collaboration with 32 healthcare, academic and technology partners.

It involves the construction of an 185,806m2 healthcare facility with 320 beds hospital, 338 healthcare hotel, medical research center, convention and exhibition facilities. It will include the construction of a biological research unit, clinics, a reception, an administration facility, laboratories and parking area of 3,000 parking spaces and the installation of safety and security systems.

Health Projects International have been appointed as the design consultants.

In September 2011, MAA Architect Sdn Bhd submitted the planning application to the Petaling Jaya City Council. The proposed plan involved the demolition of 30 vacant bungalows in Jalan 12/5 once used as staff quarters, staff club and alumni house.

In December 2011, Petaling Jaya City Council's (MBPJ) One-Stop Committee (OSC) rejected the proposed development as the residential area had not been rezoned.

The project which is planned to be built in Section 12 residential area of Petaling Jaya, is also facing an opponent from the local residents.

In January 2012, University of Malaya appealed against the council's decision and submitted a letter to the Selangor Appeals Board.

On July 31, 2017, UM signed a Business Collaboration Agreement (BCA) with United Engineers Malaysia Berhad (UEM).

The US$384 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of a biological research unit
