The project involves the construction of a silicon metal manufacturing plant including two furnaces with a capacity of 33,000MTPA on 32ha of land.

In March 2013, ABI appointed US investment bank, Jefferies Group LLC (JEF) as the financial adviser for the project.

In April 2013, the project received planning approval.

In December 2013, ABI received approval from the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) to reserve 315, 870m2 of the plot.

On July 27, 2015, AMG signed an agreement with ABI for the development of proposed plant. Under the terms of the agreement, AMG and ABI are conducting due diligence including finalizing the feasibility study, commercial agreements, project financing and technical specifications prior to making a final investment decision in mid-2016.

Planning activities are underway.
