The Lagos State Government (LASG) is constructing the Fourth Mainland Bridge in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Missing Link Motorway Development Company (MLMDC) is the implementing agency, and NLE Nigeria as architect.

The project involves the construction of a 30km four-lane dual motorway and 8km suspension bridge on the lagoon. Of the total 38km, 25km will be on the mainland axis of the state, 8km on the lagoon and 5km on the Lekki corridor.

It also includes the construction of eight interchanges, two service areas, cyclist and pedestrian paths, an additional pedestrian crossing, three toll plaza and other related facilities.

The project is being implemented as a public-private-partnership (PPP) on a Build-Own-Transfer (BOT) basis for a concession period of 40 years.

On May 25, 2016, LASG signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a consortium of investors that will fund and construct the bridge. The consortium comprises Visible Asset Ltd, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Hi-tech Construction Ltd, J.P. Morgan, Eldorado Nigeria Ltd, Nigerian Westminster Dredging and Marine, Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and Access Bank.

In May 2017, LASG terminated the MoU signed in May 2016.

In April 2018, LASG shortlisted three unnamed bidders of investors that will fund and construct the bridge, the preferred bidder is expected to announce in June 2018. The construction works are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2018.

Scope
The project involves the construction of a 30km four-lane dual motorway and eight-kilometer suspension bridge in Lagos, Nigeria.

The US$1,884 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of eight interchanges

2. Construction of two service areas

3. Construction of cyclists and pedestrians path

4. Construction of additional pedestrian crossing
