Feasibility studies on the project have been completed.

In February 2012, the project received initial approvals from the Land and Environment Court. However, the plans were modified three times since approvals in February 2012.

On August 10, 2016, the project received final environmental approvals from the New South Wales (NSW) Planning Assessment Commission (PAC).

On February 17, 2017, project secured approval from the Federal government.

Design activities are underway and the entire project is scheduled for completion in 2025.
