In February 2016, demolition works to the former Steam Mill at Corn Hill were completed.

In December 2017, The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) signed a US$67 million support for the project.

As of March 2018, construction works of tram route are underway and scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2018.

Construction of i9 office building is scheduled to be complete by 2020.
