In October 2016, Victoria state planning department has rejected the plans and placed the project proposal on-hold due to land acquisition issues.

As of August 2017, VicRoads is in the process of reviewing the alignment.

Project is awaiting for approvals and the construction works are expected to take 10 to 15 years for completion.
