Kenyatta University (KU) is undertaking the Kenyatta University Teaching, Research and Referral Hospital project at Kahawa Campus in Nairobi, Kenya.

The project involves the construction of a 600-bed university teaching, research and referral hospital.

The project includes the construction of a learning facility for KU medical students, a 300 bed children's hospital, a funeral home, anatomy and basic science laboratories, pre-clinical and clinical teaching departments, training departments, wards, waiting halls, operation theaters, ICUs, and parking and related facilities, emergency units, safety and security systems and the installation of elevators and related equipment.

Eco-Build Africa has been appointed as lead consultant; Jiangxi Global Design Institute, a subsidiary of China Jiangxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation (CJIC), as a quantity surveyor; and China Jiangxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation as a design-build contractor for the project.

On June 17, 2011, KU through the Kenya's Minister for Finance has signed an US$96 million concession loan with Chinese Export Import (Exim) Bank for the project implementation.

On October 7, 2011, the groundbreaking ceremony was held on the project site.

In third quarter of 2016, construction works on Funeral home is completed.

Construction works are underway on Referral Hospital.
