Ministry of Public Works, Kuwait (MPW) is undertaking the construction of Al-Ghouse road development in Kuwait.

The project involves the construction and upgrade of 30km Al-Ghouse road. It is planned to be developed in three packages includes, package I of 7km, package II of 9.5km, and package III of 10km.

Egis Group has been appointed to provide preliminary and detailed design services, preparation and evaluation of tender and for supervision of construction work to upgrade the road.

RSM Albazie & Co.has been appointed as consulting engineer and Consultant Group For Civil Engineering as traffic and environmental consultant for the project.

Package I:

Package I includes the construction of elevated U-turn above the 5th ring road, a new roundabout and upgrading of three existing roundabouts located in Bayan area, two new roundabouts in Mishref area, a three level interchange and footbridge, the erection of a flyover (six-lanes) along Khalid Bin Abdul Aziz road, the maintenance and upgrade of Al Ghouse road from 5th to 6th ring road and the protection and relocation of existing utilities.

On July 9, 2015, the tenders were issued for the appointment of construction contractor with submission deadline as August 2, 2015.

The pre qualified bidders with their bidding values are:

1. Combined Group Contracting Co. with the bidding value of US$256 million

2. Consolidated Contractors Co (Athens) with the bidding value of US$261million

3. AhmadiahContracting Co. with the bidding value of US$265million

4. KCC Engineering & Contracting Co. with the bidding value of US$265million

5. Kuwait Arab Conrtactors Co. with the bidding value of US$270million

6. Kuwait Company for Process Plant Construction Co. with the bidding value of US$277million

7. AlghanimInternational Co. with the bidding value of US$280million

On May 3, 2016, Combined Group Contracting Co. was appointed as construction contractor with the contract worth of US$256 million.

In the second quarter of 2017, the construction works on the Package I were commenced and are underway.

Package II:

Package II includes the construction six flyovers (six-lanes) along Al Ghouse road, seven footbridges, the upgrade of existing signalized intersections into wide roundabouts and the renovation and maintenance of Al Ghouse road along sections located between intersections.

On July 9, 2015, the tenders were issued for the appointment of construction contractor with submission deadline as August 9, 2015.

The pre-qualified bidders with their bidding values are:

Combined group contracting and Ahmadiah Contracting Co. has been appointed as the construction contractor for the project.

Construction is underway and the package II is expected to be completed in March 2020.

Package III:

Package III includes the construction of three footbridges, three flyovers (six-lanes), new services, the upgrade of existing signalized junctions by wide roundabouts, the expansion and renovation of six existing roundabouts along Al Ghouse road, the upgrade and maintenance of Al-Ghouse road.

On July 9, 2015, the tenders were issued for the appointment of construction contractor with submission deadline as August 9, 2015.

Scope
