Kuwait Oil Company's (KOC) is undertaking the construction of an oil gathering center near Burgan field, Kuwait.



The project involves the construction of GC-32 gathering center with a capacity of 120,000 barrels oil per day (bpd). The project includes the construction storage tanks and an administration facility, and the installation of temperature control systems, processing units and safety systems.

Wataniya Environmental Services (WES) has been appointed as an environmental consultant and Amec Foster Wheeler as the front-end engineering design (FEED) contractor.

Fluor Ltd has undertaken Topographic and Marine Survey from December 2014 to June 2015 and also undertaken the FEED works, which were completed in August 2015.

Amec Foster Wheeler completed FEED for the proposed project in December 2014.

KOC issued the limited Request for Proposal (RFP) on July 24, 2016, for appointing the EPC contractor with November 29, 2016, as the submission deadline. Later the due date was extended to January 3, 2017.

The RFP was issued to limited companies/consortia including Daelim Industrial Company, GS Engineering & Construction, JGC Corporation, Petrofac, Saipem, Samsung Engineering, SK Engineering & Construction Company and Tecnicas Reunidas.

The optional companies/consortia are Aker Kvaerner, Chiyoda Corporation, China Petroleum Engineering & Construction, Consolidated Contractors Company, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, Hyundai Heavy Industries, KBR, Larsen & Toubro, Lurgi, Saipem, and SNC-Lavalin.

In January 2017, Petrofac emerged as the lowest bidder followed by SK Engineering & Construction Company, Samsung Engineering, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, Saipem and Tecnicas Reunidas.

Petrofac Ltd was awarded US$1,300 million engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the project on March 28, 2017.

Construction activities are underway and are scheduled for completion in 2020.

The project involves the construction of the GC-32 facility with a 120,000bpd capacity near Burgan field, Kuwait.

The US$2,000 million project includes the following:
