In 2008 jeans inflation rose around 7% compared to the previous year, then a further 17% in 2009 followed by another 10-15% in 2010. This last rise was mainly absorbed by manufacturers and retailers in order to recover demand after the global financial crisis. Overall, inflation on clothing products was above 20%.
